I visited Sentosa, a small island directly south of Singapore, and saw a bug exhibit with beetles as big as a human hand. No exaggeration, the scariest looking bugs I've ever seen. These things are huge and mean looking. I couldn't believe some of these bugs are real -- if I didn't see them moving I would have thought they were toys because their bodies are so big and shiny it looks as if they are made from plastic. An exhibit worker talked me into holding live scorpions. I wasn't going to do it (scorpions are extremely mean looking bugs), but there were some old Japanese women in the tour who let the guide place scorpions on their arms, so I had to go ahead and do it. Creepy! Then, while riding on a cable car over the Sentosa strait, I saw what must have been a monitor lizard. The thing had to be 4-5 feet long, knifing through the water to the shore. It landed and crawled up on shore and hid in the bushes. Singapore has its highlights.
Scorpions! Ughh. Their raspy legs grip my arm and shoulders as they crawl.
