|The Mekong runs as the 12th longest river in the world, 10th in volume. In Laos it remains undeveloped. The Laotians first erected a bridge across it in 1993 and no dams withhold its flow anywhere in the country. Marco Polo became the first European to cross in the 12th century and Portugese explorers rediscovered it for European maps in the 16th century. The adventurers course follows the Mekong, from Vang Vieng to Vientiane. We paddle kayaks and jump off cliffs. The crazy part is that we paid for this entertainment.|
The Mekong flows into bottlenecks that churn whitewater. Any catfish will tell you that the Mekong rapids are tame.
My bathing trunks ripped in half on the landing.
