Next Day
Another day in Vang Vieng and the karsts, those pointy rock thingies, beckon us to explore them. We rent bikes, cut a path, and bump our way along dried rice paddies to these imposing granite outcrops. Caves and tunnels drill into the cliffs. Wherever there's a cave, there's also a monk erecting a temple or statue inside.
We watch the spectacular scenery, the peasants watch us, and the cows chew cud.
Inside the karst, limestone caves look like the intestines of a great beast. If these are intestines, what does that make us?
