What's cool about Hampi is that nothing seems to have happened here since the city was lost to civilization in 1565. Resurrected by the Indian antiquities department, it's mostly populated by tourists and those in the tourist trade. Yet most of the tourists that come here are more like hippies, so Hampi keeps a laid back atmosphere. The taxi drivers will also ask if you want hashish along with a taxi ride.
Indian
folklore dancer. She says everything with her movements and expression, so there's
no need to understand Hindi, just watch the story unfold in front of your eyes.
At Hampi the builders used
stone for everything - including a chariot that rolls on stone wheels and music
the plays by plinking the stone columns.
At
the Hampi festival, wrestlers roughed it out on a dirt court.
