Next Day
After a quiet morning in La Fortuna, we keep moving (we're always on the move!) south to San Jose, Costa Rica's capital. It serves as the transportation hub of the country, so most visitors spend at least a few days here. It feels more North American than many Latin American capitals, with department stores, shopping malls and fast-food chains. San Jose seems to have the highest McDonald's concentration on earth. However, it also has good accommodation, colorful markets, and a comfortable climate.
No one would call us a 'Tico," an inhabitant of Costa Rica, we look like tourists to the bone.
