Canoeing down the Zambezi River ranks as our favorite trip. We use Natureways tours because James Varden, the pro guide, stands out as the best guide in Africa. A typical day begins with first light and a few casts of a fishing rod to catch Tiger fish, a fierce fighter with teeth that would scare a piranha. After tea and biscuits, we walk for a few hours to introduce ourselves to local wildlife. Then we paddle downstream for several hours, eat lunch on the riverbank or a sandbar, and repeat the morning activity again in the afternoon. Wildlife guarantees a full day of excitement.
If the elephants turn this way pretend that you're a rock.
Have you seen a mouse?
Who do you think does the most paddling?
