We've touched three areas of Madagascar: the spiny forests of the south, the dry woodlands of the west, and the grassland savannah of the center. Today we visit another: the dense green jungles of the east. Our destination is Perinet National Park. | |||

The bus dumped us off in
Andasibe, a town that looked like a scene from an old West movie. From the bus
stop we crossed over rusty railroad tracks into "Main Street," a mud
boulevard lined by rickety wooden buildings. Hanging laundry splashed color. | |||

cooking on a charcoal stove, pressing and slicing homemade pasta. | |||
