We've touched three areas of Madagascar: the spiny forests of the south, the dry woodlands of the west, and the grassland savannah of the center. Today we visit another: the dense green jungles of the east. Our destination is Perinet National Park.
Every ride carries its own personality but they're all slow.
The bus dumped us off in Andasibe, a town that looked like a scene from an old West movie. From the bus stop we crossed over rusty railroad tracks into "Main Street," a mud boulevard lined by rickety wooden buildings. Hanging laundry splashed color.
Walk into the saloon and request a room for the night.
The Malagasy perform miracles in the kitchen, cooking on a charcoal stove, pressing and slicing homemade pasta.
