|What's there to see in central Turkmenistan? Sand. We drove 9 hours across central Turkmenistan, the Karakum Desert, and saw sand, a few camels, and a handful of police checkpoints. The Turkmen government subsidizes fuel, it's practically free, so a 9 hour cab ride costs $20. By early evening we arrived in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.|
If you're unhappy with your job just think, you could be manning one of these desert checkpoints. These policemen live in a little shack next to the road and spend their day hassling the few vehicles that pass thru.
Need to hitch a ride? The options are limited.
