Over 1 million square kilometers, Ethiopia is twice the size of Texas. With that much ground, we must keep moving to see much of this country. We board another Ethiopian bus for a four hour ride to Bahar Dar. Here we visit the Blue Nile falls and the source of the Blue Nile itself.
Known as Tis Isat (Smoking Fire), this is low-water for the Blue Nile Falls. During the wet season it measures over 400 meters wide and its spray can be felt up to a kilometer away.
The falls support luscious vegetation, a small rain forest, and a few over eager 'guides' that will follow you to the falls whether you want them to or not. Stand near the falls and the spray will soak you in minutes.
Smart pelicans follow a fisherman.
