Armenians claim to be visionaries; their country declared Christianity as the state religion before all others in 301. This was the end of 'firsts' for Armenia. It's tough to find anything to do but attend church.
Echmiadzin, remember that name if you want to impress Armemian friends. Echmiadzin is Armenia's holiest place, the old capital city where Christianity become the world's first state religion. Monks stroll the grounds of the city's main church complex. A long line of young religious students almost carried us into their cafeteria at lunchtime. Since Jill didn't want to eat with a few hundred rambunctious young men staring at her, we left with a quick tse't'esutsyun (Armenian goodbye).
