This morning, fully recharged, we entered Zimbabwe, another African
country with a tenuous political situation. One result is violent outbreaks
in the power struggle between white and black, rich and poor. Another
result is good tourist package deals. We had no idea about our airline
or flight number, just an assurance that someone would meet us at Victoria
Falls Airport. That person turned out to be our pilot, Emmanuel. He showed
us our plane: a small Cessna. Not much room, but that was okay since we
were the only people on the flight. Our pilot explained that politics
around here has been hell on the tourist trade. We didn't mind, but you
can really feel the bumps in these small planes. Airsick, we stopped in
a town called Kariba. |
